Collector’s Notes:
Featuring imagery from Castelli maiolica plates from the second half of the 18th century, these scenes draw from a long tradition of Italian decorative arts depicting idealized rural and coastal life. Figures engaged in fishing, travel, and daily tasks were often included to bring movement and narrative into these landscapes, creating small windows into a romanticized vision of the world.
