Collection: Gilded Margins

This small, one-of-a-kind collection is crafted from imagery found in illuminated manuscripts created for the Tudor court in the early 16th century. Many of the pieces draw from a 1506 French translation of Xenophon’s Anabasis — a richly painted volume gifted to Henry VII by the French ambassador and translator Claude de Seyssel — as well as decorative marginalia from companion royal manuscripts of the same period.

These books were filled with vivid botanicals, watchful angels, playful creatures, and curling foliate borders painted to delight a king who loved beautifully illustrated histories. I’ve taken these tiny, centuries-old details and transformed them into small, wearable keepsakes — each one cut, collaged, and sealed by hand.

With only twelve pieces in the entire release, this collection celebrates, handcrafted techniques, history, and the joy of holding a miniature story close.
